Long time ago Robinia wood was used mainly for firewood, handles and shafts, vine-props and poles and timber used to construct simple agricultural buildings like sheepfold and others. Later - because it is light and strong in dry condition and gives cracking sound before it breaks - it was used for mine timber. In the last decades - in parallel with the intensive progress in wood processing, drying, steaming, gluing and surface treating procedures - it has been found that many types of consumers' goods also can be manufactured from this wood and therefore locust wood has become very popular.
